MJ's Interweb Open House!

Thanks for stopping by!  Sit back, relax, and go grab a drink...get ready for a glimpse into "my world".  Enjoy this area.  It's for you, my clients, friends, and family.  Here, you'll get sneak peeks into my latest photo shoots and glimpses into my crazy world!

I'm Michael.  I'm a father, husband, dog lover, son, and brother.  I've got the most beautiful wife, the smartest, funniest, and most handsome son, and a dog who loves me unconditionally.  I love my life.  It's simple, uncomplicated, and I wouldn't change it for the world.

I write, eat, shave, and brush my teeth left-handed.  Everything else (throwing a football, etc.) I do right-handed.  What's that mean?  Who knows.  I like to think that I've got the best of both worlds...I'm structured and creative.  Take a look at my work and you'll see those traits shining through!

Cheers!

VanAllen Insurance | Tallahassee Headshot Photographer

When an old friend got in touch with me to take some headshots of him and his partner for their new website promoting their new business, I jumped at the opportunity.  I love bringing my “mobile studio” to my clients to keep them in a comfortable atmosphere that lets them maintain and enjoy the familiarity of their day to day routine.  These two are working tirelessly to bring new insurance options to the area and I’m excited for them and for their opportunities ahead.  I think they’ve got a great future here, and with a solid online presence, that success will be solidified.  Meet Michael and Allen.  If you’re in need of any insurance, give these two a call.  They will eagerly earn your business.  And if you’re in need of some updated, fresh headshots for any reason…give me a call!

Giuliana | Tallahassee Portrait Photographer

I was SO excited when Daniela & Rick got in touch to ask if I could travel to Ponte Vedra, FL to capture some images of their newborn baby girl!  With as much fun as we had during their maternity session, this was a no-brainer.  Plus, with their good looks, I knew that their baby had to be a stunner!  A Christmas Eve gift, baby Giuliana arrived just in time to celebrate the holiday and make just about every other package under their tree seem irrelevant.  Thanks to Daniela and Rick for letting me invade their home and hopefully preserve a small bit of Giuliana’s beginnings.  Hold on to these times…they go terribly fast!  And enjoy this sneak peek of images to come!

February 1, 2010 - 1:47 am Michelle Duncan Mason - Michael these pictures are amazing!! Not because the subjects are beautiful, but because your ability to capture on film is extraordinary!!!

She’s Still a Girl! | Tallahassee Portrait Photographer

Well, after a successful glimpse of our little lady this past Tuesday morning, we have verified that she is still, indeed, a “she”!  I’d post a picture that helps confirm that, but this is my daughter we’re talking about!!!  :)   So, instead, enjoy a couple images of her beautiful profile and tiny little hand waving to Mommy and Daddy.  All tests are indicating that she’s happy and healthy and developing as expected.  She was really, really active during the ultrasound so I was convinced she was doing some Taebo in there.  HEEEIIIII YAAAAAAAH!!

January 31, 2010 - 12:53 pm Jill Pope - She is so precious! What a miracle!!

January 30, 2010 - 8:55 pm Meg Kennedy - Can't wait to meet Miss Morgan and spoil her rotten!!

Saying Goodbye | Tallahassee Pet Photographer

“A dog is the only thing on this earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”

~Josh Billings (pseudonym of Henry Wheeler Shaw)

Yesterday, my friends said goodbye and laid to rest their beloved dog, PJ.  I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some time with all of them last week to capture some images before his passing.  He was a wonderful companion and he will be missed.  This is for my friends…and their hurting hearts.  Click the icon in the middle of the image below to start the slideshow.

February 4, 2010 - 4:43 pm Neelima Ganapa - Huh.....I wish I didn't see this blog at work...too many emotions to control. Very sorry for your friends loss.

January 27, 2010 - 10:53 pm Julie Howell - Wow, that is amazing.

January 27, 2010 - 10:08 pm Paul, Karen and Louden - We can't thank you enough for all you have done. It is truly priceless. As I said before, having friends like you and April who care so much has made this difficult time less painful. We will forever miss our PJ but take comfort in our memories of him and the realization that our lives are so much richer because he was a part of them.

January 28, 2010 - 12:00 am Michael Johnston - Sorry to get everyone all choked up. It kind of hits home for all of us dog lovers. He was a really special dog and I felt for my friends. I was glad to be able to do it. So, thanks for taking the time to watch the slideshow.@ Martha Ellen...Hey! Yes, we live in Tally and head to Jax all the time. My wife's sisters and their families live over there.

January 28, 2010 - 12:00 am Michele Chabot Mitchler - What a special thing to do for your friends. I'm totally choked up a work right now. Want to go home and give my pup a big hug!!

January 27, 2010 - 9:22 pm Kris Cullen Hoover - Got that sinking feeling in my stomach. So very sad. My thoughts are with them. I know how much this hurts.

January 27, 2010 - 5:12 pm Tara L, Fl - MJ, this is great what you have done. I'm sure your friends are not only appreciative but they will be able to hold on to the memories of PJ forever. Great work!

January 27, 2010 - 9:02 pm Mary Catherine Phillips - Ok. Let me rephrase. I have tears rolling down my face that won't stop.

January 27, 2010 - 8:57 pm Mary Catherine Phillips - Speechless. Our golden child is having surgery in three weeks so this hit home. If you're ever anywhere close to Montgomery please let me know. I'd love this done.

January 27, 2010 - 8:52 pm Lorie Alford Smith - wow...I'm speechless and in tears. Amazing Michael, just amazing. I'm so sorry for your friends loss, I can't even imagine life without our sweet Kacy Belle, she was my first baby...I had her before I even met my husband.

January 27, 2010 - 4:10 pm A dog lover too - Michael, this is just priceless. Your friends are truly blessed to have you as a friend, for you have captured the essence of their perfect memories of their wonderful PJ. I'm very proud of what you did here, and I expect that will be a very widely held sentiment.

A Perfect 10! | Tallahassee Portrait Photographer

Count this as the first of what I’m sure will be a long list of sports activities in his life, but Mattox has started a preschool gymnastics program to begin work on his agility, balance, coordination, and overall physical dominance of all other lesser competitors.  Ok, so the last part is more MY desire than anything else, but you get the point.  This program is really a blast; you’ve got to see it!  I kid you not…I could sit and watch all day long whether it was my son or not.  Although, then I might be mistaken for the “creepy” guy hanging around the gymnastics complex…and I just can’t have that.  ;)   While initially timid (as is his usual M.O.), Mattox took a real liking to the freedom of hanging on bars, playing on “cheese wedge” mats, and trampolines.

The 30 minute class focuses on teaching kids easy techniques, that I’m sure in the long run will lead them to olympic glory.  Either that, or Mattox will just perfect the somersault for my home entertainment purposes.  Either way, he had a blast during his first visit and already is eager for round 2.  If you never get the opportunity to visit the Trousdale Gymnastics Center, you’re missing out.  However, if you’d like just a small taste of what the classes are all about, come over to our house where Mattox has made his crib his own personal trampoline!

Enjoy a few images of our little Monkey in action…

Mattox and Momma receiving directions on the stations | Starting his stretching

Mattox now uses this technique to "steam roll" his Daddy!

Abs of STEEL are hidden under that shirt!

Mattox may need a few more weeks to master this move...

Seriously. Check out the "hops" in the lower left image!

Ever seen the movie "Cliffhanger"? This is kind of like that. Only different.

Oh yeah! That's how he rolls!

January 27, 2010 - 9:21 pm Kris Cullen Hoover - Seriously Michael, you're hilarious! I guess I'm going to have to be the 'creepy' girl hanging out at the complex b/c that looks like a blast. Can't wait for my little man to try it out.

January 27, 2010 - 1:13 pm Suzanne & David McCandless - These pictures are priceless Michael! Glad all is well with you and yours.

January 26, 2010 - 10:16 am BaBa and NiNi - This looks like a lot of fun. Wish we could have been there to watch as well.

January 26, 2010 - 12:28 pm Sherri Warner Byrd - I love the one where he's doing the "High Bar Hang" and his tongue is hanging out! Classic. And when you said "abs of steel" were you referring to April or Mattox? ;-)Great shots! Love the detail work.

January 26, 2010 - 12:16 am Mary Dixon - Love the Monkey's tongue wagging :) He learned that one from his brother..... the Monkey is just too cute!

January 25, 2010 - 11:20 pm Jill Pope - This post is precious! Kent also does gymnastics there. This is our second season and he and we love this easy release of energy!! April looks awesome by the way! I can't tell she is pregnant :)

January 25, 2010 - 7:58 pm Dee Johnston - very cute pics!
