When clients initially contact me about wanting to schedule a session, I usually follow up with some generic information-gathering type questions. As we head down the road to finalizing the scheduling, I always take the opportunity to chat with my clients regarding their “creative vision” for their session and how they see themselves being photographed. In your mind’s eye, whether you fully recognize it or not, you have a vision of the final product and how you see yourself, your child, or your family being photographed. Some people get inspiration from images they see here on my blog, while others get their inspiration elsewhere. Wherever they find it, I like to pull it out of them in advance so I can try to figure out how I’ll achieve that vision.
When Annie got in touch with me, she wasn’t sure of her creative vision but knew that it couldn’t be achieved with a standard studio-style photography session. She knew she liked my style and knew that I fit with her desires to capture a look that celebrates her maternity and the impending birth of her baby girl. With the help of her mom and aunts’ creativity, Annie and I took advantage of some truly one-of-a-kind design aspects and props to tastefully and artfully celebrate her pregnancy. The pregnant form is a beautiful thing; and shooting images of a happy, healthy mom-to-be with her hilarious self-proclaimed “Cougar” ladies to set things up and add a little inspiration made for an awesome night of photography. We even snuck her mom into a couple of the shots!
Annie, I wish you all the best with the delivery of your baby girl and know that you’ll have an incredible support system with you all the way. Enjoy these select images from your night.
